Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset Review : Superb, superb, superb!

Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset Review Image LinkIt is with much regret, that I have to hand the Plantronics Discovery 925 back to Plantronics HQ – mine was a review unit. Bluetooth headphones/headsets are a dime-a-dozen these days but up to this moment, the Plantronics 925 is the best I’ve ever used.

Comfortable Fit
I’ve never really enjoyed using in-ear earphones/headsets as they have a tendency not to fit my ear properly and fall out after a couple of steps of normal paced walking – this was not the case with the Plantronics Discovery 925. The snug, secure fit can be attributed to the unique design of the in-ear component which uses ’stablizer handles’. It’s strange but works!

Light as a Feather
It’s V-frame technology rids itself of unnecessary clumps of plastic which results in a stylish and lightweight design. Being able to see more of one’s face and less headset means that it’s much more viable to wear this in public (if needed).

Good Voice Quality
The special V design also allows the microphone to sit close to the mouth for maximum voice-input. I tested this out on the streets of Melbourne and was able to converse with good audio and was heard clearly by the other end. In very windy conditions however, the conversation was pointless. I wonder if the Jawbone II or Blueant Z9i would cancel wind-noise as they advertise they do.

Echo was minimal and the unique snug inner-ear design meant that one could wear this for a couple of hours without feeling any discomfort.

Battery Life
The battery last for around 5 days of decent usage before it needed re-juicing. Decent for such a little headset. My only gripe was that it didn’t use a standard mini-USB plug to charge, which would have been handy as I have a mini-USB charger for my iMate Ultimate 8592.

Usability
If you want simple, you’ve got that with the Plantronics 925; it only has 2 buttons, one for volume control and the other for pairing and call functionality. It was a bit weird at the start not having separate buttons for increasing and decreasing volume but the tradeoff of easily locating this ONE button which cycled through volume levels (3) is worth it.

Superb, superb headset! Well done Plantronics.
