The yet-to-be-released new Palm device, the Palm Treo Pro, recently got a hands-on over at Wired Gadgets Lab and results are a little mixed. Everybody was amazed to see a new touch screen Palm phone, but there are some slip-ups Palm could fine-tune before the device’s release that’s rumored to be on 2009 (late September 2008 for Australia, exclusively on Telstra).
According to Wired, the screen was so laggy and unresponsive that they were compelled to double, even triple, tap with the stylus. That, in itself, is a deal-breaker, but the Treo Pro still has redeeming qualities. It does, for example, look really fine that it appeals to even those who’re looking more for fashion-inclined handsets. It’s pocketable, with a battery that lasts two days, and a dedicated WiFi button. But if it’s selling in the alley of US$550 per (without a contract, hence unsubsidized), then Palm really does need to do something about the Palm Treo Pro‘s touch display.
