The Orbita Freestyle rotational mouse was specially created for 3D content and has taken on a rather unique form factor. The mouse is shaped like a puck, a circular device that’s proven to not be ideal for mice by earlier devices taking on the same shape. However, unlike the ordinary mouse, the Orbita has a special feature.
If you watch the video above, you’ll see that Orbita’s used a little differently from traditional mice. The body of the mouse itself is rotatable, and by guiding the rotation with your fingers, you can navigate your way through web sites, applications, and documents. Think of it as a scrollwheel that gives you 3-axis control over 3D content. However, it seems a bit confusing to use for ordinary web site browsing or image viewing for me, but I guess it depends on the user.
