Have you ever had this odd desire to throw a phone against a wall or run it over with a car to see what would happen? That’s kinda-sorta-but-not-really similar to what Nokia does for its stress tests to check out the durability of its phones and see if they can hold up to some extreme real life situations.
The phones in Nokia’s labs are literally poked millions of times to test the resiliency of the buttons. They’re subject to different types of liquid and water vapor, bending due to the stress and weight, and to dropping from breast pocket height to the ground. These are but a few of the tests conducted. We still got a Nokia 2100 phone as a backup right now that’s got years on it and had fallen from the second floor to the ground before yet still continued to function, so I guess those tests do work.
