Unlike the hardcore BlackBerry fan, I wasn’t overjoyed by the announcement of the full touch screen BlackBerry Storm, mostly because I’ve seen numerous attempts at toppling the iPhone before. Nevertheless, I considered it HUGE for RIM to come up with something that’s completely unlike any of the older BlackBerry models.
From being called the Thunder to the official BlackBerry Storm, we’ve seen a lot of leaked pictures and information about the device. This recent hands-on video of it, however, left me disappointed with RIM’s (pardon the term) iPhone killer. The ninja who reviewed it summed it up quite well for me—”I don’t like it,” says he. And I agree, to an extent at least. It seems that to access every menu icon or key on the onscreen keyboard, you need to press the screen down because, like we’ve known, the display is one big button. I can only imagine what the display’s state would be like within the next few years. Nevertheless, the accelerometer that can turn the screen 360 degrees is quite cool and it has an enticing and slick overall look. I just hope the screen-button works out for RIM in the end.
