The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks were recently refreshed to sport the new unibody aluminum casing and a few other tweaks including a multi-touch glass trackpad. The 17-inch laptop on the other hand was merely fitted with a LED-backlit display and a higher HDD storage capacity but was left as it is without the new look.
According to AppleInsider, it’s not that Apple deliberately left out the 17-inch version in the cold. It’s just that problems in the form optical drive and display issues came up and prevented the device’s release along with its smaller siblings. Fret not, those who want to see the 17-inch MacBook Pro in aluminum—it’s going to see the light of day early next year. It’s just taking Apple a few months to get the problem-free 17-inch model into manufacturing.
