Just like we mentioned before, an alpha of the Firefox Mobile browser Fennec will be released soon according to Mozilla’s CEO. Well, here it is, arriving in full force surprisingly not for handsets but for the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet.
It’s just an early developers’ release though, so don’t worry about not being able to use it. In fact, Mozilla upped versions of the browser for desktop PCs running on Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. According to Mozilla, the desktop versions were provided “to give people who don’t have a Nokia Internet Tablet the ability to localize, experiment and build add-ons.” Fennec boasts the usual browser features including tabs with thumbnail images, web search integrated into the URL bar, zooming in and out of web pages, password manager, searchable download manager, pop-up blocker, and one-click access to search engines. I tried it for a few minutes and the browser is really slow. In fact, as of this writing, the Mr. Gadget web site STILL isn’t loading. Mozilla seems to be aware of the problem though, but since it’s an alpha release, I’m hoping the next one would be a lot better.
