With the economy in the dumps these days, I wondered why anyone would want a luxury phone. But I guess the really rich will just be a tad less rich during these days that they can still afford a US$2,000 luxury phone that really does nothing different from an ordinary phone.
Motorola AURA boasts, more than anything, the craftsmanship that went into creating the handset. The design took a cue from luxury watches of old. It has a 62-carat sapphire crystal lens and get this—a round LCD the company is touting as the first in the world for mobile phones. Other than its gorgeous old-world design, the phone has, disappointingly, very little to offer. However, it does have 2GB user memory, video and audio player, 7.3 hours talk time, GSM/GPRS/EDGE connection, Bluetooth with A2DP support, USB 2.0, and a 2MP camera. But that’s about everything for Motorola. I think I’ll pass on this one.
