The FCC has just approved the Motorola EM330 also called the Ischia. It’s an entry-level clamshell phone which reminds me of a toy phone model I got off of the corner store. Still, Motorola claims it’s a “music phone with a sleek design that’s sure to get attention.” Uhu, sure.
The Motorola Ischia is a tri-band GSM phone with EDGE and GPRS connectivity. Having no 3G in this era is a bit of a disadvantage, although it could be an unexpected hit in its target market which is China. Being a music-oriented phone, it has a music player, FM radio, 3.5mm jack for headphones, and dedicated music keys both on the inside and the outside of the flip device. Other features include a VGA camera with recording capability, Bluetooth and miniUSB connectivity, and a microSD card slot. Price and availability for the Motorola Ischia EM330 aren’t known yet, but I’m pretty sure you’re not holding your breath for them.
