In spite of the reported problems with the handset itself, the success of the official release of the iPhone 3G should have shaken up competitors with “iPhone Killer” contenders. Among these contenders though are a few good ones including the RIM BlackBerry Thunder.
If you remember, the Thunder is RIM’s first full-faced touchscreen device. A couple of live shots of the Thunder were recently found online, although they’re admittedly nothing more than pictures of the device displaying onscreen keyboards. According to source, the BlackBerry Thunder has tactile feedback in that the screen actually depresses and clicks when you tap on the keypad (like the screen is one big button). Hopefully, it doesn’t create problems in the long run. As you can see on the pictures, the device shows a full QWERTY keyboard when horizontal, and a compact QWERTY or SureType keboard when it’s held vertically. Finally, the BlackBerry Thunder‘s screen is made of glass and has multi-touch capability.
