After a false start in the form of a delayed launch, Life with PlayStation for the PS3 has finally launched globally. For now, early adopters get “LIVE CHANNEL” that is based on the themes “place” and “time.” Those themes are executed with the use of a 3D world map as a background.
What you get with LIVE CHANNEL are cloud imagery from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center, weather information by The Weather Channel, news headlines from Google News, and live camera images from The Earth Television Network. As long as the location you’re checking is included among the 60 cities enlisted for the service, that is. As an example, the image above is a collection of pictures of the Hurricane Ike tracked real time using Life with PlayStation.
Check out the official PlayStation blog for a demonstration of Life with PlayStation.
