LG came out with a rather toy-looking phone called the LG KS360. The handset is especially meant to be a messaging phone aimed towards the youth market.

The LG KS360 is a sliding phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It’s designed to be especially thin at 16.8mm so carrying it around in pockets would be no hassle. It has a 2.4-inch QVGA screen which can be used as a touch dialer, with the display having the capability to rotate 90 degrees horizontally when tilted. The device is also equipped with a 2MP camera and an expandable microSD slot. It will be available in a gamut of color schemes which include silver, black, bright blue, titanium, soft pink, and white. The LG KS360 is now available for sale in Europe; there are no announcements about its availability to the rest of the world just yet.

  • Network: GSM 900/1800/1900
  • Battery: Li-Ion 800mAh
  • Dimensions: 101.5×51×16.8mm

  • MicroSD card slot, up to 4GB supported
  • Bluetooth: V2.0
  • USB: V2.0, Mass Storage

I contacted LG Australia after I could only get the red and black version. I have been told by LG that no other colours have been picked up by Australian carriers so far. If you do want one of the phones even in red and black, they are selling quite quickly.

A reply for Sarah:
The LG KS360 initially seems perfect for its price, you can take decent photos, play MP3 music and minimie it so you can do other things while listening to the music, it can send MMS and email aside from the standard text messages and calls. However, being a mid-range phone, its only fair that it would lack several features such as wifi, 3G etc. There are however some problems with this phone including (1) it sometimes gets confused when typing in messages quickly. The O,K, L and M letters shares the same buttons for up, left, right and down. If youre typing quick enough, both functions of the keys will be carried out (i.e. if you press “O”, after inserting the letter O, the cursor moves up to the previous line) thus this makes it a bit annoying. I also had problems wherein the phone would just shut off while i was texting despite being fully chraged. It only happened seven times for the whole four months that I had the phone. Given these, if youre as patient as I am, then the phone will be ok since it is cheap. But, if you expect perfection, you might want to look at other phones

I also want the pink KS360. My boyfriend has the red version and he loves it. But i see no point in me getting the red as well as we would get confused all the time.
