Like what was reported yesterday with the LG KC780, LG is coming up with a full touch screen phone that it’s touting to be the most affordable among the available touch phones in the market today. Called the LG KP500, it has the same build as the LG Renoir sans the powerful 8MP camera.
The 11.9mm thick LG KP500 uses LG’s flash-based user interface that’s thumb-optimized although the phone does come with a stylus for use in handwriting recognition purposes. Since this one’s made for affordability, don’t expect high-end specs on it. The quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone doesn’t have 3G connectivity, but since it can be used worldwide, it can aim for markets in developing nations. The camera is also far removed from Renoir’s 8MP at only 3MP with fixed focus, but for those less concerned about camera functionality, it’s not so bad.
The phone sports a 3-inch 240 x 400 pixels resolution touch screen display, FM Radio, Bluetooth, accelerometer, and an expandable microSD card slot. It lacks a physical keypad, but it does have a virtual landscape QWERTY keyboard. It will be available in Europe first starting October, 2008.Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that it’s touted to be affordable, the price itself isn’t known yet. However, as GSM Arena points out, the LG KF700 is already priced at US$ 285 so to be cheapest, the LG KP500 should cost lower than that.
