LG KP500 to be Released as the LG Cookie

There really must be a sweet tooth in LG for the company to be naming its handsets after sugary treats. Just like the LG Chocolate, the new LG KP500 is slated to be released as the LG Cookie. Cookie?! Yep, I can’t imagine why either.

The LG KP500, I mean the LG Cookie, is what LG is touting as the most affordable touch screen device to ever come out. According to source, Cookie is expected to be priced at around US$230 which meets my expectations—I was gunning for a price below $300. For that price point, the 3-inch touchscreen display with built-in accelerometer and 3-megapixel camera seem like a bargain. Of course, it’s not practical to expect high-end features on a low-end phone. The LG Cookie doesn’t have 3G support and can only record QVGA videos at 12fps. Video payback is limited to MPEG4 videos up to 240 x 400 pixel resolution, but frankly, for anyone looking for a basic phone, this seems to be promising. I’m not sure about its shake-to-align-widgets feature, but it’s an acquired taste so it could work for other people.
