While our very own Mr. Gadget is tearing his hair off because his iPhone 3G has crappy battery life, our friends across the pond in Japan are enjoying the benefits of a second battery. A second battery that comes with a 1-Seg TV Tuner, that is.
Softbank, the Japanese telco behind iPhone’s Japan release, released an external iPhone 3G gadget to be used as a TV tuner with a battery that powers both the tuner itself and the iPhone. The 1-Seg TV Tuner feature is a staple in most Japanese mobile phones (called keitai by the way), and the iPhone NOT having it is a big disadvantage. Unfortunately, while most keitai remain thin with integrated TV tuner, the iPhone will have to do with a bulky external gadget. Ah well, they still get a great deal anyway. The external gadget costs AU$150 on top of the iPhone 3G and its monthly plan.
