The second-gen iPhone‘s coming out in just a few more days, but the first Google Android handsets won’t be seen ’til fourth quarter of this year or early next. The iPhone has already made waves all throughout the globe, while Android is yet to see the light of day. Still, one can’t help but compare the two.
Both are based on Linux and both have the capacity to mold the smartphone market (in iPhone’s case, it already has). Brighthand has juxtaposed the two operating systems, in an attempt to list down their advantages and disadvantages. The iPhone OS, for example, as a closed source, remains exclusive. However, one disadvantage of a closed source is that there can be limitations. The open source Google Android, on the other hand, has a tremendous potential for growth since anyone can build upon its design. The problem is that it might take a lot of time for manufacturers to completely customize it, that it might be better to create an interface of their own after all.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg though. Head on over to Brighthand to read the comparison’s entirety.
