And here’s something a lot of people from all over the globe have been waiting for, the unlocking of the iPhone 3G which took a lot of time and seemed impossible for quite a while. Yes, those who don’t want to be saddled with contracts can soon break free and make their iPhone 3G work with any SIM around the globe.
The iPhone Dev Team accomplished what seemed to be an insurmountable task, unlocking the iPhone 3G. It’s not yet released though, so don’t get too excited. The team is aiming for a December 31 release date, so keep your eyes peeled by that time. Developers are just working on making sure the release is user-friendly. According to source, you need to have a baseband of 2.11.07 or earlier and a jailbroken iPhone 3G for the unlock to work. Of course, by the time the next OS update comes up, there’s a chance unlocked phones could be bricked, but that’s a risk we’ve all known from the very beginning.
