For those who didn’t know, the new iPhone 3G currently does not have true turn-by-turn instruction GPS. It does however have GPS via Google Maps. Here’s a demonstration of how it works:

Wow.. great way to have an accident!!… he had to keep taking his eyes off the road… would buy a decent turn by turn program which would look great on a 3.5 inch screen

I agree, just buy a stand-alone gps if you really need one, or the new nokia 6210 navigator is fantastic for turn-by-turn navigation…

Yeah, that is a stupid decision of Apple not to have a turn by turn navigation GPS without the need to access internet to save user’s money. In remote area where you have GPS signal but no mobile signal it becomes useless.

Apple please – turn by turn or leave it to competition!!! Your solution is not even good enough for my 7 year old.
