Intel SSDs
Since the technology of solid state drives hasn’t been fully-developed yet, there were reportedly problems regarding performance. Let’s hope that these new solid state drives by Intel could turn that around and deliver on what is promised.
Called the X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives, they’re based on multi-level cell NAND flash technology meant for both desktop and laptop computers. The model X18-M is a 1.8-inch drive while X25-M is a 2.5-inch one. Both, however, have an 80GB storage capacity. Intel expects these drives to be a lot faster, quieter, and more energy efficient compared to hard disk drives. The 80GB 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch solid state drives are currently sold for $595 per, although a 160GB version is planned in the near future.
