Open release for public is around October / November. Should I trade in my Cruise for the Diamond or not? That is the question.

Once I finish hacking my Cruise, I may not even need to upgrade to a Diamond. :)

Just replaced my Touch (found it in my pocket hanging on the clothes line, still works except for on/off button!)with the Diamond.
Very nice with a superb screen (as good as ipod touch) with the latest Windows Mobile.
I chose it over the iphone because I need the PDA/phone function more than a media player.
Downside-
It’s a bit of a battery hog. Heavy users may need a spare battery/charger to get through the day. The other result of this is the screen turns off frequently to save power when using the phone. This makes using the calendar during a call a pain especially if you prefer to use the transcriber. It will turn off halfway through a word requiring constant pushing of buttons to reactivate the screen. I called HTC who said it can’t be changed. I suspect 90% of users will complain about this so it should be fixed in the next firmware release.
Conclusion-
Best phone at any price for my needs 8.5/10

@Staggerlee thanks for your feedback. I thought that the battery would struggle especially since it’s a lower capacity due to the size of the device. Guess it’s one of the prices you pay…

@Staggerlee - this was also a problem with the Tytn II (Kaiser) and could be easily fixed, along with a bunch of other irritating glitches, with a simple program called KaiserTweak. I imagine the Diamond will receive similar treatment once it goes mainstream.

@Mr.Gadget - the article reads “runs on Windows Mobile 3.1″ Shouldn’t that be 6.1?
