With all the nasty stuff I’ve been hearing on the news these days, I’m really inclined to install a surveillance system in my house. Through HomeCamera, I can actually have one for free—all I’d need is a computer installed with Windows platform and up to four web cams.
The HomeCamera system is really easy to work. Just sign-up, download their software and plug-in up to four ordinary cameras. You can check the footage of the cameras directly through your PC, although you can access your cameras via mobile phone or PDA as well. Pretty cool, no? And, if for some reason you decide to let your friends play Big Brother, you can even share recordings of your footage through the HomeCamera portal. Oh, by the way, if you’re leaving your house/office/whatever totally empty, just turn the system’s motion detector on and set it to send you pics or videos to your mobile phone or email address. Yep, all these for free—at least in its beta stage. When the HomeCamera service fully launches though, it’ll still be free albeit with certain limitations.
