Are you counting the days until take off? A lot of people have been eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone 3G in Australia on July 11, but a lot more have been waiting for years. Apple is obviously prepping for the second-gen iPhone’s release, even putting up a guide on how customers can replace their first-gen iPhones with the iPhone 3G.
Of course the replacement scheme only works with original iPhones, so if you got a hacked phone (not unlikely in Australia), don’t even bother (but hey, you can still use it as an iPod Touch). This replacement method is useful for expats who just recently traveled to the country with their old carriers or anyone else with an existing iPhone from AT&T USA, O2 UK, O2 IRL, T-Mobile Germany, T-Mobile Austria, or Orange France. Aside from instructions on how to replace the first-gen iPhone, the guide also instructs you on how you can restore factory settings in case you plan on selling it or giving it to someone else.
