We’ve all been anticipating the release of the first batch of Google Android-based devices come third quarter of 2008. Unfortunately, it seems that’s unlikely to happen now that the known manufacturers of the devices are reportedly pushing release dates back.
T-Mobile USA is apparently planning to release its Android-based smartphone, HTC Dream, on the fourth quarter of the year rather than on the third quarter. The delay is allegedly caused by the Android team still tweaking the user interface. Sprint pushed its plans to next year—there are even rumors that Sprint will completely abandon plans of releasing an Android-based smartphone for its 3G EV-DO network to concentrate on making one for its upcoming 4G WiMax network. Another provider, China Mobile, also announced that its release date’s been pushed back to sometime around late this year or next year as well. Delays are acceptable Google Android team, just don’t make people wait too long or else they’ll lose interest altogether.
