Gear4 Duo Speakers for iPhone / iPod : Versatile!

Last week, iWorld Australia sent me the Gear4 Duo iPhone / iPod Speakers to trial and I am sad about the fact that I have to return them!

Do you like to share your music wherever you go, yet want rich bass sounds when you groove at home? Well, you can have both with the Gear4 Duo. Its ingenious design allows you to detach the front speakers from the powerful sub-woofer unit quickly and easily – no screws and no fuss. The portable speakers are powered by lithium ion batteries which are charged automatically whenever it’s docked with the sub-woofer unit. Easily tuck it into your briefcase or school bag for audio-sharing no matter where you are.

Once you get back home, simply attach the portable speakers back to the sub-woofers for your deep groove tones – whenever you’re about rush out the door, just detach the front speaker unit again and it’ll be ready to go, just like you. Speaker Sound
Sound quality was above average – when attached to the bass unit the Gear4 Duo provided a good balance of treble and bass notes. Obviously when removed from the sub-woofer unit, the bass sound was lacking however decent enough to enjoy your favorite tunes and share with others. With 38W total speaker output, you’d definitely be able to liven up any party with sound from the Gear4 Duo.

Classy Build
While it won’t compare to the likes of the Zeppelin or Octavio in sound, it beats them both in the area of compactness – you can fit the Gear4 Duo speakers in anyroom and in most cases, light enough for most shelves. Its sleek, minimalist design fit perfectly with the iPhone 3G / iPod. When the front and rear units are attached no one would guess that they can operate independently.

I give the Gear4 Duo Speakers 8/10.
