According to the New York Times, T-Mobile might be offering the very first Google Android smartphone in the market. The smartphone in question is the HTC Dream handset, which we’ve been hearing of for quite a while, repackaged (or at least renamed) as the G1.
The T-Mobile G1 or the HTC Dream will supposedly be released by the end of the year, even as early as October and might even be announced this September, at least according to rumors. It seems the companies involved want to take advantage of the holiday season to boost sales. The New York Times mentioned that both HTC and T-Mobile had refused to confirm the news, although both said that they’re right on track of their intended timeline for their Google Android smartphone. The G1 might be the sole Google Android handset to enter the market this 2008, so we might see some more than decent sales of the phone when it does come. We don’t know when a Google Android phone will be available to other countries outside the US, but I don’t think it’ll be too far off from now.
