SMobile Systems released VirusGuard, the first known anti-virus created for Google Android systems. VirusGuard was created using knowledge gleaned from creating anti-virus applications for other systems such as Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone, and Palm.
VirusGuard allows users to scan their Google Android devices (only the T-Mobile G1 at this point in time, of course) and their memory cards for any of the 400 known mobile malware variants. This is only the beginning though. SMobile Systems plans to bring the company’s SecurityShield suite soon that includes not only anti-virus, but also a firewall, anti-spam, wipe and child lock protection, as well as backup service.
