Optus has had to deal with a lot of beef from customers and the media over alleged outages not only for its 3G network, but also for its phone and internet services. August apparently saw numerous complaints about 3G network interruption in a few of the country’s locations.
In fact, based on Wired’s survey, Optus seems to be the slowest 3G connection for the iPhone 3G in the world. Optus also received flak for reducing data allowance per plan. If you’re one of those who have been affected (in any of the mishaps that happened relating to Optus), then the Optus managing director of products and delivery wants you to know that “It’s quite normal.”
According to him, “There have been a few incidents — which is actually quite normal for any operator and any vendor — that the new software loads under some conditions or locations don’t behave the way you expect them to, despite having done very extensive testing before you bring them into the network.”
