A hacking blog for the Apple iPhone claims that it found proof of the impending 3G iPhone’s release hidden in the codes of the Beta 5 firmware. You can see the screenshot above, although it hasn’t been checked and confirmed yet. This statement was released by the source along with the screen shot:
“Well, when you have nothing to do all day, this is what happens. Note that this is not fake, it is in the beta 5 .ipsw, but will normally not show up on an EDGE iPhone. Turning 3G on will just crash the phone if you use an EDGE phone. If you do not believe me, then decrypt the beta5 rootfs dmg, and see for yourself in /Applications/Preferences.app/Network.plistâ€
We all know the 3G iPhone’s coming to Australia along with nine other countries later this year. The only issue is that the exact date isn’t known yet. With this development, some sources speculate that the anticipated handset will first be announced within a few weeks. MG Siegler from VentureBeat, however, disagrees and considers the 3G iPhone unveiling rumours floating around to be “slightly exaggerated.â€
