It’s only been a couple of days since the official announcements of the Dell Studio laptops, but a few reviews are already up for the early converters and Dell fans.
The Dell Studio 15 and Dell Studio 17 laptops enjoy the attention due to the fact that they lie somewhere in between the high-end Dell XPS line and the low-end Inspiron. PC Magazine praised the Studio 15 because it offers “spectacular performance scores, excellent configuration options, and an extensive color palette” for under US$1,199. CNET was a bit less impressed, stating it’s tempting to pony up a bit more money to get the thinner Dell XPS laptops. Unlike CNET and PC Mag, Laptop Magazine got a chance to review Studio 17 (rather than Studio 15), and while the review praised the laptop’s “fast dual-core processor, discrete graphics, a humongous hard drive, and a beautiful high-res display,” the verdict is that the system’s look is not made for everyone and that the volume controls are finicky.
