We told you yesterday that the Lilliputian Dell M109S has hit the market without much fanfare and it caught us by surprise. It seemed truly promising with the ability to display images 60 inches in width and 858 x 600 SVGA in resolution. Selling for $499 a pop, the Dell M109S DLP Micro Projector was reviewed by Popular Mechanics.
What the folks at Popular Mechanics got was a prototype and not a finished product, but it seems they were pleased. In fact, in their own words, what they saw “was quite impressive.” Compared to bigger, more expensive home theater projectors, the colors were a bit washed out, but that’s a given already. Also, it seems that when the image was blown up (not sure if they were able to view 60-inch pictures), there wasn’t much loss on quality which is very important. With the advent of these micro projectors, there might come a time when incorporating them into mobile phones becomes a norm and I sure would love that.
