If you think your phone’s safe just because you had delegated a PIN code or a password for your files, think again. A device called Cellular Seizure Investigation Stick or simply CSI Stick (clever name, eh?) can download data from your phone anytime; and yes, it’s available to the public.
Taking on the size of an innocuous lighter, the CSI Stick could plug in directly, without the use of any connector, to Samsung and Motorola phones. Aside from these two brands, the device is now being developed for other manufacturers like Nokia, LG, and RIM. Connecting the device to the phone will grab ALL of its data—email, data logs, instant messages, text messages, and more. It won’t even leave any kind of trace for you to know that your data’s been downloaded. While it’s useful for law enforcement or anything similar, it’ll be wise to be wary of whom you’re lending your phone to from now on.
