The Palm Treo Pro came off as a surprise for Palm users and non-users alike, not only because it looked a lot different than other older Palm handsets but because according to some early reviews, it worked a lot faster than other systems.
That was also indeed what CNET AU noticed, commenting on the laggy performances of phones like the HTC Touch Diamond. However, Palm Treo Pro’s lack of a fancy customized interface, relying entirely on Windows Mobile and looking incredibly bare, didn’t escape the reviewer’s notice as well. Another thing of note is that while it has GPS, it doesn’t have a navigation system. Battery cycle is also poor at only two days on a full charge. Nevertheless, bottom line is that CNET AU deemed the Palm Treo Pro a worthy rival to the iPhone and the BlackBerry (albeit, perhaps, with a few shortcomings).
