The reason why Buffalo’s new external hard drive is named Shinobi (Japanese for “ninja”) is probably because with its near-miniscule size, it can hide from you like a ninja. The Buffalo MiniStation Shinobi is an external 1.8-inch hard disk drive that prides itself in being small AND thin.
Shinobi is just 5mm or 0.2-inch thick and weighs just a couple of ounces. And, like a ninja equipped with shuriken, this one’s got its own integrated USB cable. That’s a double-edged sword because if something happens to the USB, you might need to replace the whole case, but otherwise, that’s great if you plan to bring this thing around with you. It comes bundled with Buffalo’s backup and sync software and SecureLockMobile software. The Buffalo MiniStation Shinobi 1.8-inch external HDD will be available on October in 30GB and 60GB models for $119 and $169 respectively.
Buffalo isn’t the first to bring these minute HDDs in the market. We got Transcend’s 1.8-inch external HDD right here.
