Last January, BlueAnt unveiled a Bluetooth headset that uses a third party application; Sensory’s BlueGenie Voice Interface. The resulting headset is the BlueAnt V1, a Bluetooth headset that can recognize, and speak, English.
The BlueAnt V1 Bluetooth headset aims to make it easier for the, well, non-tech geeks to perform procedures such as pairing a phone with the headset. Since the product just came out in a market, a slew of reviews have been published recently. To use the V1, all you have to do is press a big button and wait for a male’s voice to boom “Say a command.” If you’re already familiar with the commands you can use, you can ask the headset to do something, otherwise, just say “What can I say?” and you’ll be walked through the available command prompts. Of course, in spite of this development, the headset still has its limitations. It cannot tell you who’s calling, and would rather dictate the numbers one by one for you to recognize. You also can’t call automatically by saying the name of your contact. At $130, the BlueAnt V1 Bluetooth headset is priced similarly to other high-end units, and with the added bonus of a voice command prompt, it could be a good buy.
