Blueant Supertooth 3 Review

This is the best bluetooth speakerphone that I have tested to date. With the added TTS (text-to-speech) functionality, Blueant have again set themselves apart with the new Blueant Supertooth 3!

I’ve had the chance to play with it for around 2 weeks now and the burn-in process has been nothing but a pleasure. Here’s my Supertooth 3 Review below:

What can I say? Blueant have done it again with the Supertooth 3 bluetooth speakerphone. This unit is fantastic and is truly a bluetooth HANDSFREE unit.

The biggest improvement of course the addition of text-to-speech (TTS) functionality. The Supertooth 3 has the ability to import your mobile phone book and read out the callers names as they call. If the caller is not in stored on the unit it will announce the phone number.

I especially like the voice-command-answering ability i.e. when a call comes in, wait for the beep sound, then say “Accept Call” or “Ok” and the call will automatically be answered. This is the true “handsfree” characteristic that I hinted at earlier. Of course if you prefer to answer by pressing the ‘answer’ button, this is still possible.

Voice call quality is also better as it continues to use Digital Signal Processing to filter out noise but also has some noise-adaptation ability – I noticed that when I was in the car, where it was noisy, it would automatically increase the volume to counter the additional sounds.

Battery life is great with around 30 days standby time and power-saving technology like vibration sensors. The vibration sensing technology means that is powers to lesser power when you’ve left it turned on in your car and there is no movement. When the car starts up again, it feels the vibrations and is back up ready for use.

Comes with two magnetic clips for easy transfer from car to car and a power adapter. Also love the fact that the charge port is mini-USB which means that it can also be used to charge up many of today’s PDAs and smartphones! Great thinking Blueant!

My only suggestion for improvement is perhaps a thinner/wafer like version like the Jabra SP5050.
