Ah, yes, the BlackBerry Thunder is RIM’s stab at the burgeoning Apple iPhone Killer list of smartphones. Unlike the current darling, the BlackBerry Bold, the Thunder takes on a large touchscreen form factor. And that touchscreen RIM device is slated to be released as the BlackBerry 9500.
Like what we’ve heard before, the BlackBerry 9500 will be exclusive to Verizon and Vodafone worldwide. It can use both high-speed EV-DO and HSPA networks, or even EDGE. The touch screen will apparently have a 360×480 pixels resolution, which is higher than the iPhone 3G’s. To be able to supersede the reigning smartphone royalty though, the resolution should not be the only feature where the BlackBerry 9500 is superior. And finally, this BlackBerry smartphone will serve as the launching ground for RIM’s OS 4.7.0.
