The BlackBerry Thunder has gone past vaporware status into a smartphone to look forward to in the near future. The Thunder, along with the RIM flip phone codenamed Kickstart, shatter what could be called the BlackBerry design stereotype of a candybar form factor with full QWERTY keyboard.
When BGR came up with a mock-up of the BlackBerry Thunder not so long ago, little did we know how much it’d look like the alleged real deal. The same outfit came up with what’s supposedly a live shot of the BlackBerry Thunder. As expected, there’d only be four physical keys to go along with the large screen. Not everyone’s happy with the change though—after all, many people favor BlackBerry BECAUSE of its design, most especially the QWERTY keyboard. The Thunder was created to compete with the new slew of keyboard-less touchscreen smartphones, but if it will actually be a popularity-booster or a detriment to RIM is yet to be known.
