BlackBerry Thunder—what’s that? Right now, it’s all about the BlackBerry Bold. However, considering the Bold still has a physical keyboard, it can’t be considered a direct competitor to the ubiquitous iPhone. Come third quarter of 2008, that could change completely. According to source, the touchscreen device RIM’s prepping that’s called BlackBerry Thunder will drop as a worldwide exclusive to Vodafone and Verizon.
The Blackberry Thunder will be a full touchscreen handset; no physical keys at all, just four main keys—one to accept calls, one to end/reject, a back key, and the BlackBerry menu key. It’ll also reportedly be a hybrid device, using CDMA EV-DO Rev. C in the USA, I presume, and GSM HSPA in other parts of the globe, Australia most probably included. We could then assume that the BlackBerry Thunder (codenamed BlackBerry 9500 for now) is coming to Australia through Vodafone.
