When I first heard rumours about the BlackBerry Kickstart (a codename for the yet to be released handset) months ago, I was surprised but I thought it possible. After all, if RIM is to remain competitive, it needs to come up with innovations in design. Now, presented with alleged photos of RIM’s first clamshell handset, I can’t help but feel…underwhelmed. OK, so it’s a BlackBerry clamshell (which until now would sound like an oxymoron), but that’s just it! It looks good, but I wrongly expected something more spectacular.
Since the rumoured release date is the end of this year, no specific details are known yet although according to source, the Kickstart has an external display, a SureType keyboard, a TrackBall navigator, and a camera. It doesn’t seem so bad, but I believe further specs of the BlackBerry Kickstart could make or break RIM’s first attempt at a flip phone.
