Remember the BlackBerry Javelin? It’s one of those two 3G-less BlackBerry 9000 prototypes in the works along with the other one codenamed Niagara (which would have EV-DO connection in place of 3G). Unlike the KickStart and the Bold which feature unconventional RIM designs, this one’s the usual candybar type BlackBerry is famous for.
Come year 2009 (the Javelin’s purported release year), a 3G-less phone might be at a disadvantage. However, if it’s a cheaper alternative to the BlackBerry 9000, it could find a suitable market in the developing world. To refresh your memory, some of the quad-band GSM/EDGE BlackBerry Javelin‘s more notable features include WiFi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
