The BGR team got a BlackBerry Bold on their hands for a month now and has just posted quite a comprehensive review of the upcoming RIM smartphone. The reviewer hailed it as the “BlackBerry communities (sic) iPhone” as it’s the device many BlackBerry fans have been waiting for.
Perhaps one of the most notable new features of the Bold is its fantastic screen which “steals the show.” The screen, as we’ve expected, is vibrant and color-rich. It can be optimized though, depending on your preference; it even has an auto-dim feature which adjusts backlighting based on ambient light. The caveat: the screen is made of cheap plastic which scratches too easily. Another thing to note is that the BlackBerry Bold is rich in connectivity options: 3G, WiFi, and GPS. All tested quite well; it’s just a matter of network availability in your location. The web browser was found favorable as it could display web pages the way they should look on computers. In all, the BGR review of the BlackBerry Bold is probably the most comprehensive pre-release look at the smartphone, and it could help you make the decision whether you’d want to get one or skip it altogether.
