It was only a matter of time before more handset makers announce they’re jumping onto the Google Android bandwagon. After LG, Samsung, Nokia and Motorola, Asus announced that it’s coming up with its own version of a Google Android phone soon.
According to DigitTimes, Asus plans to release its first Google Android phone on the first half of 2009. The company will be selling Google Android handsets under its own brand in Taiwan initially. However, it will manufacture Android phones for other brands meant for the international market in the long run (think how HTC manufactured the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1). If it will be anything low-end yet functional like the original Asus Eee PC, then I’m game.
