Having made the rounds as an “unofficial” Asus phone before, the touch screen Asus P565 is now formally announced by the company. The device is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional candybar smartphone with a 2.8-inch VGA touch screen display.
It uses Asus’ Glide interface like its older sibling, the ASUS P552w. It has the usual smartphone specs including HSDPA, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity. The 3 Megapixel camera is less stellar, but that’s not the device’s focus from the outset, although it does have multimedia features you’ll need such as an audio and video player and a picture viewer. Aside from the Glide interface, its other selling point is the uber-fast 800 MHz Marvell TavorP CPU. Unfortunately, the HSDPA connection is for European band only, others unfortunately have to deal with EDGE/GPRS/GSM support.
