701SD
It hasn’t been that long ago that the Asus Eee PC 701 came out, but with everything that has happened (namely, releases of the various Eee products which aren’t limited to mini-notebooks at all) up ’til now, it seems farther back than it really is. The company is now doing a full circle to go back to its roots and release the 7-inch Asus Eee PC 701SD.
We’re yet to figure out what the “SD” in the name really means, but for now, we know that the model might come out in three varieties. There’s the ordinary Asus Eee PC 701SD, which is most probably an improvement of the original 701, the “701SD(30G HDD)” which we could assume comes with 30GB HDD, and the “701SD-4G” which could either be equipped with 4GB SSD or come with a 4G connection. It’s not yet confirmed, but it’s also an assumption that the Asus Eee PC 701SD would come with an Intel Atom processor. There are also some differences when compared to how the original 701 looked like, including a new logo, slightly separate touchpad buttons, and rounded edges. I expect more details would come out soon, but with all the Asus Eee products coming out, I don’t blame you if you find it confusing at the very least.
