The new ASUS AIR3 speaker system has just passed the FCC which means it will hit the USA in the hopefully not-so-distant future. While its competitors enhance design or sound quality, the ASUS AIR3 that’s mainly recognized as an iPod speaker system has another main feature – it can be used to play internet radio as well.
The ASUS AIR3 can play with iPods that have dock connectors, which means most of them sans the Shuffle. But the Shuffle along with other digital audio players can connect to the speaker system via a 3.5mm jack while internet radio stations are streamed via WiFi connection. There’s a small 128 x 64 pixels display as you can see on the picture and there are also S-Video outputs and an Ethernet jack. No word on availability outside the USA for now.
