By now, the non-Apple fans among you would have already been nauseated at the onslaught of iPhone 3G news, perhaps to the point of wanting to dissect it. Guess what? It’s already been dissected! Of course it’s for the fans instead of the opposite, but it’ll quench your desire to see some iPhone 3G innards nonetheless, promise.
The iFixit crew flew over to New Zealand to get their hands on one of the first iPhone 3Gs released in the world. Their aim? To dissect the little fella and show the world just what it’s made of. At the iFixit web site, they have pictures of the iPhone in various states of undress (or more precisely, various states of dissection). A few good news: iPhone 3G’s headphone jack allows non-Apple headphones to be used without an adapter, the LCD and glass covering are not glued together which makes it easier when there’s a need to repair, and finally, the battery isn’t soldered.
