Small is so in, Computex was riddled with these diminutive devices. Another mini-note to watch out for is the Acer Aspire One. The Aspire One is an 8.9-inch notebook than runs on a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor. Just like the other mini-notes, this one comes in either Linux or Windows platform as well.
Here are the other specs of the Acer Aspire One:
- 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display
- 1.6GHz Atom N270
- 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable)
- 1.3 megapixel camera, SDHC and multi-format media readers
- 802.11b/g, Ethernet, three USB 2.0, VGA, and 3.5mm audio out
- One free mini PCI slot for WWAN
- 80GB hard drive (with XP) or 8GB solid state (with Linux)
- 2.5 or 5 hours on 3 or 6-cell batteries in XP model, 3 or 7 hours on Linux
- 1kg (2.2 pounds)
The color schemes you see on the picture could be seen on the introductory machines, but black, pink, and red models would also roll out soon after. It’ll be available in some parts of the world by the end of June, with the US release coming by the end of the year. The Linux version will be sold for somewhere around US$400 while the Windows one will be priced at around US$600. Yes, the Acer Aspire One does look good in those pictures, but the Dell Mini-Inspiron already captured my heart, with the MSI Wind coming at a close second. How about you; which one of these mini-notes would you rather get?
