After all the rumors preceding its announcement, the official unveiling of the 3G iPhone at WWDC was a bit anti-climactic. In fact, the mock-ups which circulated the web were actually quite well-done that what I saw wasn’t really anything new.
The curved-edge, thicker form factor seems to be true, as well as the a-GPS and tri-band HSDPA features. The three color rumor seems to be a fake though, as only two colors were announced: the 8GB in black and the 16GB in white. Prices begin at US$199 with a two-year contract in the USA. Good news for all Aussies: rumors that Australia will be seeing the 3G iPhone by June 19 are false, but at least Australia is still among the first 22 countries to get the device on July 11. The rest of the world will get the 3G iPhone a bit later this year, with Apple aiming for 70 countries in total.
PS: By the bye, the first-gen iPhone is now officially dead to make way to the second-gen.
