The CX300 Sennheiser headphones are like earplugs and in-ear headphones in one package. They come with three pairs of different sized rubber shrouds so you can customise the fit to your own ears. They fit comfortably and securely and never feel like they are going to fall out. The cable is a J style cable which means you run the cable behind your neck. The plug is a standard 3.5mm stereo plug.
Sound-wise, these headphones are excellent. The sound is accurate and has deep bass. They do an excellent job of reducing external noise, so you can hear your music better. Most importantly you can hear your music clearly at much lower volumes than normal in-ear headphones, which is much better for your ears.
In the past I have used active noise cancelling headphones on planes to reduce the noise. These headphones are better than all the active noise cancelling headphones I have tried, are cheaper and have a better sound.
The only downside of these headphones is that they "communicate" the noise of vibration on the cable into your ears. To reduce vibration when walking I tuck the cable under one of the buttons of my shirt and this does a good job of reducing the vibration and corresponding noise.
I am now onto my second pair of these headphones (having misplaced the first pair)... and I didn't think twice about buying the same heaphones for the replacement pair. They're a bit dearer than other in-ear headphones, but the sound quality and noise cancelling abilities are excellent and worth the price.
