The Arkon mount allows you to charge your o2 XDA IIs/iMate PDA2K while you drive. All you need to do is plug in the cigarette charger then connect the serial charger to your o2 XDA IIs /iMate PDA2k. This version of the Arkon Car Mount also has handsfree speaker capabilities. Simply plug in the speaker plug into your o2 XDA IIs/iMate PDA2K headphone jack and listen to your phone calls via the Arkon. The volume control is conveniently located on the side which allows for quick adjustments to the volume.

The o2 XDA IIs/iMate PDA2K Powered Car Mount by Arkon also has a clamping action that keeps your PocketPC secure while driving. It has a spring release triggered by a button on the right that unclamps your PocketPC when your ready to go mobile again.

Unit arrived and was installed within minutes.
Yes, careful placement of the windscreen suction is required to ensure that the unit is stable and doesn't swing. Easy for me driving a toyoyta troupy most of the time :-)
Highly recommended.
I have already used it in 3 separate vehicles and its going overseas with me for use in hire cars.

This is a well built device that serves the purpose it was built for without much of a drama. It car mount holds the phone firmly so you can be certain that you won't have your phone falling out of it if you have a lead foot. Also, all the included cords are long enough to connect everything up without being droopy.

My only gripe with this device is if you take a sharp corner (or you happen to take a corner at a higher speed) the car mount tends to pivot out of place or even rotate. More resistance in the pivot would fix this problem otherwise you'd need to provide a manual workaround to wedge it into place).

I would have also preferred a slightly longer arm given the larger depth between the start of the dashboard and the windscreen. This will be more of a problem in family sedans than your smaller cars.

Voice clarity is quite good when in use and the other party is able to hear you without you having to speak overly loud. The charging functionality works without a problem (but I have not tried this with a bluetooth GPS receiver attached as well).

Despite the potential design flaw of the resistance of the pivot it is a fairly sturdy and reliable device and will perform that job it was designed for but may require a little help to stay in position whilst in transit.

What's there to be said? The Arkon o2 XDA IIs / iMate PDA2k is a piece of cake to setup! All up it took me a measly 30 seconds to attach the gooseneck cradle by suction to my windshield and attach the serial charger to my o2 XDA IIs.

I am not using the handsfree option that can be easily attached to the audio out port of the o2 XDA IIs because I've got a bluetooth Blueant Ezytalk Plug'n'Go Handsfree Unit. But I've tried it with the previous and sound coming out from the inbuilt speakers were okay - not the best - but ok.

The o2 XDA iis / iMate PDA2K Power Car Mount by Arkon is an excellent gadget to have if you're using GPS on your PocketPC. It makes navigating a whole lot more safer and easier - no more crying out in anguish as your o2 XDA IIs slides all over the place on your dash!

In summary the best features are:
- easy to install: just put the o2 XDA IIs / iMate PDA2k in then squeeze in the holders
- transferrable : because it uses "suction technology" you can easily move this from vehicle to vehicle
- charges up your pocketPC: handy for these battery hungry devices. Just plug in the cigarette lighter charger, then serial plug and watch your o2 XDA IIs glow with energy!
- optional handsfree function: as mentioned, just plug the audio plug into the audio plug on your o2 XDA IIs and away you go. The inbuilt speaker on the unit is quite audible.
